FIJI Water unveils cutting-edge plant capacity expansion

$140MM investment propels our water facility to among the most high-tech in the world

Deep in the tropical rain forests on the islands of Fiji is the heart of FIJI Water. Here at our Yaqara plant, and joined by the Honourable Prime Minister Mr. Sitiveni Rabuka, FIJI Water unveiled our largest capacity expansion initiative in nearly 30 years. Also attended by two of Fiji’s Deputy Prime Ministers, senior cabinet ministers, the United States Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission, senior executives from FIJI Water and The Wonderful Company, this momentous event celebrated not just a new chapter in the FIJI Water story, but our partnership with government as well as our endless appreciation to our nearly 400 FIJI Water plant employees.

The two newly installed state-of-the-art production lines will increase production capacity by 47%, achieve a 10% increase in energy efficiency, and require 10% less cardboard in product packaging, ensuring that Earth’s Finest Water will be enjoyed the world over for years to come.

“Today is a very big deal for us,” said Craig Cooper, executive vice president of The Wonderful Company, at the event’s ceremony. “Not just because it’s good for business, but because we care about this country, its economy, and the hundreds of people who work in the plant, their families, and villages.”

Deepening our longstanding commitment to sustainable business practices, this plant expansion also emphasizes our unwavering support to those we rely on most – our employees. Our goal is to afford people at every economic and social level the opportunity to enjoy upward mobility and growth in their careers, and this expansion provides exciting and innovative ways to do so.

“Who would have imagined back in 1996 that water sourced in Yaqara would become the number one premium imported bottled water in the United States?” said the Honourable Prime Minister. “I’m glad to see how this iconic and global brand continues to grow in leaps and bounds as we mark yet another milestone.”

As one of Fiji’s leading employers, we embrace our responsibility to remain a good corporate citizen. Over the past 15 years, FIJI Water has streamlined its value-added operations in Fiji and has invested over FJ$300 million in various operational upgrades. And, through the FIJI Water Foundation, we’ve been able to invest millions across a wide range of projects nationwide.

Lynda and Stewart Resnick, co-owners of FIJI Water and its parent company, The Wonderful Company, believe deeply in supporting the well-being of their employees and their families. This plant expansion underscores that commitment, cementing new groundwork on which FIJI Water can continue to build.

In his remarks, the Honourable Prime Minister also noted the important impact the Resnicks have had behind “this incredible success story” in Fiji. “The Resnicks have a very simple mantra that many businesses can learn from – supporting the well-being of our employees and their families where they live, work, and play,” the Honourable Prime Minister said. “Through efforts like this plant expansion, and the FIJI Water Foundation, they have impacted thousands of lives not just here but across Fiji.”
