Partnering with our neighbors in Fiji through Community Grants

The FIJI Water Foundation provides grants up to FJ$250,000 to local organizations each year

Working in partnership with local organizations to address the needs in Fiji is a cornerstone of how we approach philanthropy. With a focus on the provinces of Ra and Ba, where the majority of our employees live and work, we collaborate with local partners to strengthen the community's health, education, families, and futures.

One such partner is Cure Kids, working on the front lines to detect, prevent, and treat rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in children. Fiji has one of the highest known rates of this preventable but debilitating and sometimes deadly disease. RHD is a serious heart condition that can develop when strep throat is not treated early and properly. Without proper and regular antibiotics, RHD can inflame the child’s heart and can result in scarring of the heart valves and cause severe illness. Cure Kids works with the Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services on a comprehensive public health program to address and reduce RHD so more children can live healthy lives.

This programme saves countless lives each year because we can help detect Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) in more young people in time to offer support, care, and provision of antibiotics to prevent worsening of disease.
