Lost Hills reaches highest vaccination rates in Kern County

Wonderful Health & Wellness helps region reach nearly twice the county's average COVID-19 vaccination rate among people 12 and older

Through the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lost Hills residents stepped up to protect one another by participating in ongoing testing and getting vaccinated. The Wonderful Wellness Centers, located in Lost Hills and Delano, California, were a major resource for Central Valley residents who were miles away from county health sites by offering COVID-19 testing since March 2020 and the COVID-19 vaccine beginning in January 2021.

In 2022, Lost Hills was number one in Kern County in terms of population vaccinated in a city with more than 600 residents, at 99% (compared to 55% in the county) for people aged 12 years and older, according to the California Department of Public Health.

I got vaccinated to encourage my kids, my husband, and my community. I wanted to show them that by being vaccinated I believed we would move forward from our current circumstances. I knew we had to do it when the opportunity came to Lost Hills because we didn’t know when that opportunity would come again.

Wonderful Health & Wellness, our community medical provider and partner, has followed the Kern County Public Health Department’s COVID-19 vaccination guidelines to ensure safe, effective, and equitable distribution of the vaccine, which has resulted in over 3,600 vaccinated Kern County citizens.

We are doing everything we can to ensure that the people of Kern County know they don’t have to face this public health crisis alone. We are proud to extend our vaccination offerings to community members outside of Lost Hills and Delano to help meet a growing need in a region that has been extremely hard-hit by COVID-19.
