Wonderful earns no. 3 spot on PEOPLE®’s 2024 Companies That Care list

A decade of commitment to employees and the planet

At Wonderful, success is about more than growing, harvesting, and packaging iconic global brands; it’s about making a lasting, positive impact on our workforce and the regions where we operate.

We are honored to be recognized by PEOPLE magazine on its prestigious 2024 Companies That Care list. This acknowledgment celebrates our corporate social responsibility and philanthropic efforts, highlighting the work we’ve done in the communities we serve and the dedication of our employees through initiatives like Wonderful Neighbor and Wonderful Giving. From California’s Central Valley to Fiji, our guiding principle is to ensure that the communities where our employees live, work, and play thrive alongside our business.

PEOPLE’s annual list selects companies from a competitive pool of thousands across the U.S., honoring those who go above and beyond to invest in their people and the broader community. As one of the largest private enterprises in the U.S., we take pride in bringing our employees along on this journey of improving education, health and wellness, economic mobility, and environmental sustainability. To date, The Wonderful Company, our co-founders Lynda and Stewart Resnick, and their foundations have directed more than $2.5 billion to philanthropy and CSR efforts globally. Together with our workforce, we are grateful for the opportunity to make an even larger impact.

“For over 50 years, our company philosophy has been rooted in the commitment to leave behind a better, healthier world,” said Lynda and Stewart Resnick. “That promise is embodied in our employees, who make a difference every day, and we are so proud PEOPLE has recognized and honored their work and commitment. We hope the initiatives we’ve launched, the investments we’ve made, and the efforts we put forth everyday serve as a model for others. Giving back starts in your own backyard.”

A Decade of Impact in California’s Central Valley

Since 2015, The Wonderful Company, the Resnicks, and their foundations have invested nearly $600 million directly into Central Valley, home to more than 3,000 employees. This investment has led to transformative initiatives, such as providing free health care to our workforce, local students, and their families. Every meal served at our onsite cafeterias is fresh, nutritious, and cooked from scratch.

We also support 5,000 students across 70 schools, including two public charter schools founded by the Resnicks. The program also provides tutoring, academic coaching, and emotional support to these students, ensuring they have the tools to succeed.

Thriving Together: How Wonderful Is Making an Impact Beyond Business

Our overriding concern is the health of our society and our world. In October 2024, with the support of the Resnicks’ $750 million investment in Caltech, the campus will open the brand-new Resnick Sustainability Center. This center will provide brilliant minds with the resources and support to expand their sustainability endeavors and tackle the most pressing problem of our age: climate change.

In total, Wonderful, the Resnicks, and their foundations have invested $850 million in leading universities for sustainability research and technologies that help protect our planet. This includes a historic $50 million gift to the University of California, Davis, creating the Lynda and Stewart Resnick Center for Agriculture Innovation and the Resnick Agriculture Innovation Research Fund for byproduct research grants.
